About the Role

Itron is a leading provider of smart grid solutions, and we are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. As a Principal Electrical Engineer - Hardware Design, you will play a key role in the development of our innovative products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of new products, including software-defined wireless and powerline communications, embedded computing for distribution intelligence, and large-scale mesh networks.
  • Design, analyze, and validate network circuit boards, ensuring high-quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to define test and fixture requirements for board-level functional verification, programming, and final meter tests.
  • Work closely with firmware and testing organizations to debug Itron meter farm failures and customer returns.
  • Support design and projects in regulatory compliance, reliability analysis, and testing, as well as multi-source component selections.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of hands-on design, analysis, and validation experience on MPU, MCU, NAND, LPDDRx, high-speed peripherals, LDOs, DC-DC regulators, and Op-amps.
  • Familiarity with schematics, layout, and circuit simulation tools.
  • Expertise with oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and signal generator, as well as experience with temperature chambers.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting complicated and random circuitry issues.
  • Good understanding of signal integrity and test automation.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, with a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
