Job Summary

As a Clinical Nurse with Duke University Health System, you will provide and supervise direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities. You will utilize the nursing process to achieve the goals of the nursing department, plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients, and participate in educational activities, departmental committees, research projects, or other health-related projects as assigned.

Department Profile

The Neuro ICU 7 DCT at Duke University Hospital is a 35-bed state-of-the-art unit attached to the Level 1 Trauma Center. Our team is active in delivering exemplary care for each patient to ensure an excellent patient experience, every time. We have achieved Stroke Gold Plus and Honor Roll Elite Plus recognition from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association for 'Get with the Guidelines-Stroke' and 'Target: Stroke.'

Work Hours & Shifts

We offer full-time positions with rotating shifts, including 7a-7p and 7p-7a 12-hour days and nights. Straight shift options are available after orientation, and straight night shifts are preferred.

Requirements

We require a previous work experience of 1+ years as a clinical nurse, a graduation from an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate's Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date. Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse or current compact RN licensure to practice in the state of North Carolina is required. BLS (or higher) certification is also required, and professional specialty certification is preferred.
