Job Title: Sacc Counselor Princeton Schools

At the Greater Somerset County YMCA, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sacc Counselor to join our team in Princeton Schools. As a Sacc Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and engaging environment for children in kindergarten through 5th grade.

Job Summary:

The Sacc Counselor will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Before or After School Program at a designated Princeton YMCA site. This includes supervising groups of children, leading staff when applicable, and implementing activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA Core Values.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and lead staff to ensure a safe and engaging environment for children.
  • Plan and implement activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development in children.
  • Collaborate with school staff and volunteers to ensure a smooth and successful program.
  • Assist with opening and closing of the site, and assume Site Director duties in their absence.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and volunteers to ensure a positive and supportive environment.
  • Participate in in-service meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, including attendance, behavior, and incident reports.
  • Ensure compliance with YMCA policies and procedures, as well as state and local regulations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education or related field preferred.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience working in the child care/recreation field.
  • Experience working with children in school, after school, or camp settings.
  • Sound judgment, ability to prioritize, and work independently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of staff and volunteers.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification, or obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
