Job Summary

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care as a member of the Sentara Health team. This role requires a competent level of nursing care, demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, and health promotion, and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and admit patients, perform rounding checks, administer medications, and provide overall care to patients.
  • Communicate effectively with family members and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care.
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Meet and maintain any requirements defined by specific clinical areas, including certifications and education.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in nursing or higher.
  • Valid RN license in Virginia or North Carolina.
  • Minimum 18 months of medical-surgical inpatient experience.
  • Availability to work PRN status, a minimum of 48 hours per month.
  • Ability to work in all units for which you are qualified and a minimum of two different units.
