Food Service Worker Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Food Service Worker to join our team at the Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) located at the Boise, ID, VA Medical Center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and serve food and beverages to our nation's veterans, including making coffee, latte, cappuccino, smoothies, and prepping food items such as breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, wraps, pancakes, and burritos.
  • Clean and maintain work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage and maintain food quality.
  • Prepare a variety of foods according to customers' orders or supervisors' instructions, following approved procedures.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, standing, walking, and frequently bending, with the ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
Requirements:
  • Excellent customer service skills to provide quality service to our nation's veterans.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and perform basic arithmetic used in food preparation.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in the food service industry.
  • Requires constant standing, walking, and frequent bending.
  • Must be able to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
