Job Summary

Durham County Government is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Deputy Sheriff to join our team. As a Deputy Sheriff, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the community, and upholding the values of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas to observe and respond to suspicious activities, disturbances, and law violations.
  • Respond to radio dispatches and answer calls and complaints from the public.
  • Serve warrants, summons, subpoenas, and other legal documents.
  • Make arrests and testify in court as needed.
  • Assist in domestic disputes and direct traffic for funerals and other public gatherings.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement officers to investigate crimes and gather evidence.
  • Perform bailiff and court security duties as assigned.
  • Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records.
Requirements
  • Must have a current NC Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Certification.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a North Carolina driver's license.
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor.
Working Conditions

Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends. Durham County Government is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
