As a Trust and Estate Tax Manager at Stockman Kast Ryan + Company, you will play a critical role in managing high-net-worth client engagements, from tax planning to the review of various tax returns. You will have the opportunity to serve as the primary client contact for a variety of engagements and represent the firm through community involvement and events.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare or review complex returns for high-net-worth clients and their personal holdings, including personal, partnership, corporate, trust, foundation, and gift tax returns, and related tax work papers.
- Consult with estate/gift tax subject matter experts to develop income and estate/gift tax planning strategies for clients.
- Ensure clients comply with applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, and ensure self and client service teams comply with SKR+CO policies and standards.
- Identify when research is needed, clearly frame issues to be researched, and clearly report analysis.
- Assist in developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients' current and future taxes.
- Apply tax knowledge and business/industry knowledge to recommend solutions while maximizing client benefits and managing risk.
- Introduce and develop new or improved ideas to improve clients', the Firm's, or Firm personnel's positions, e.g., by reducing taxes or expenses or providing non-tax benefits.
- May train and mentor managers/seniors/associates on specialization areas, research skills, and help frame tax issues for analysis.
- Consistently suggest improvements to work products, approaches, and/or processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 5+ years of tax experience in public accounting/professional services firm specifically with high-net-worth clients.
- CPA license or EA.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's in taxation preferred.
