Position Overview: The Chief Survey Technician will operate both autonomously and collaboratively with team members to perform field survey tasks associated with boundary delineations, ALTA/NSPS Land Title surveys, topographic assessments, photo control surveys, route evaluations, and construction layout under the oversight of a Registered Professional Surveyor.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the effective management of the field crew adhering to established operational protocols and current health and safety regulations.
  • Utilize robotic total stations and GPS technology to meticulously gather essential data and information.
  • Drive stakes, maintain detailed records and diagrams, and oversee the upkeep of company equipment and survey vehicles.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficient in operating GPS devices, data collection tools, and Total Stations.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in various situations.
  • Familiarity with the principles, methods, and practices of land surveying.
  • Understanding of computer-aided drafting techniques and civil engineering principles, including construction specifications and regulations.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard safety practices and principles.
  • Capability to operate motorized equipment effectively.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in diverse environmental conditions.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift weights up to 50-75 pounds.
  • Competence in managing office tasks efficiently, organizing workloads, setting priorities, and fostering positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Local travel may be required within a specified radius.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
Education and Experience:
  • A high school diploma is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a survey crew chief role is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits: Salary and hourly wages are commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical coverage, 401K, vision and dental plans, and paid time off.
