We provide an extensive array of medical services to veterans through the management of CBOCs, customized to address the unique needs of local VA medical centers.
Our wide-ranging services encompass primary care, diagnostics, laboratory work, telehealth, behavioral health, and more.
As a Practical Nursing Specialist with Valor Healthcare, you will administer prescribed medical treatments and personal care services to patients with various health conditions seeking assistance in the clinic, as directed by a physician or mid-level provider.
Additionally, you will work collaboratively with the core PACT Team (Primary Care Provider, RN, and Medical Assistant) and the expanded PACT Team, which includes family/caregivers, VA, and community-based services, to develop comprehensive patient care plans.
Salary Range:
$23-25/hrCore Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Actively support patient care, conduct physical examinations, and perform ancillary tests. Carry out annual and routine nursing assessments and preventive health services authorized by the VA and the clinic Medical Director. This includes interviewing patients and gathering relevant health information.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications as prescribed by a medical provider, whether orally or via injection, and document all actions in patients' electronic medical records.
- Diagnostic Procedures: Operate diagnostic equipment to conduct routine tests and treatments, including EKGs, glucometers, and other necessary assessments.
- Wound Care: Dress wounds and incisions, interpret physician instructions for patients, and assist in emergencies as required.
- Laboratory Specimen Collection: Collect lab specimens for testing and may perform waived laboratory tests on these specimens.
- Patient Education: Provide health education to patients and families, focusing on self-management, prevention, wellness, and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to compliance requirements set by the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Joint Commission (JC), and other relevant oversight bodies.
- Customer Service: Deliver exceptional customer service to veterans and clinic visitors, maintaining a warm and professional atmosphere.
- Enrollment Support: Participate in outreach events to support clinic enrollment initiatives.
Requirements:
- Diploma or certificate from an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.
- A minimum of one year of experience as an LPN/LVN in a related primary care or ambulatory care setting; experience in a government healthcare environment is preferred.
- Must be credentialed and maintain good standing through the Veterans Health Administration (VA).
- Current certification in Basic Life Support and ACLS as specified by individual VAMC contracts.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and strong computer skills, including EMR experience.
- Energetic and optimistic demeanor.
