Company Overview

Figure is an AI robotics company based in Sunnyvale, CA. We're developing a general-purpose humanoid designed to tackle labor shortages and undesirable or unsafe jobs.

Job Description

We're seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to design, test, and implement key hardware components for our humanoid robot. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing parts in 3D CAD that meet load conditions, industrial design form factor, and durability requirements.
  • Building prototypes to test assembly, range of motion, wire routing.
  • Generating accurate 2D drawings using GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Collaborating with the GSM team to select a supplier and order parts.
  • Inspecting first articles, building test stands, and supporting part development on robot platforms.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • At least 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Biomechanical, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Expertise in using 3D CAD software to design complex parts.
  • Experience designing and building prototypes.
  • Familiarity with simulation and analysis methodologies (FEA, MATLAB, etc.).
  • The ability to write and maintain clean documentation for design processes.
  • Experience with actuators, including strain-wave, planetary, or cycloidal designs.
  • Knowledge of electromechanical integration, such as sensors, motors, motor drivers, wire harnesses, and communication buses.

Bonus Qualifications

If you have experience in high-volume manufacturing processes, working with contract manufacturers, or CATIA V6, you'll be at an advantage.

Salary Information

The estimated base salary for this full-time position ranges from $120,000 to $180,000 annually, depending on your skills and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional benefits, which will be discussed if an employment offer is extended.
