Traveling Nurse Specialist

Job Summary:
The Traveling Nurse Specialist at Compassus is a highly skilled and compassionate healthcare professional responsible for delivering exceptional patient care and promoting the company's values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation. This role involves extensive travel and flexibility in varying assignments that range from 8-13 weeks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel to assigned programs based on need, providing high-quality patient care and education
- Admit patients and conduct thorough assessments to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment
- Act as a preceptor to train new team members, sharing expertise and knowledge to enhance patient outcomes
- Coordinate clinical disciplines and case management to ensure seamless care coordination
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation at the bedside, maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to regulatory requirements
- Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and attending physicians to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Develop and implement strategies to prevent unwarranted hospitalizations, promoting patient safety and well-being
- Educate patients and caregivers on disease management, treatment options, and self-care techniques
- Supervise and mentor other healthcare professionals, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork
Requirements:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing, with a strong foundation in nursing principles and medical terminology
- Minimum of one year of nursing experience, with a preference for experience in home health, hospice, oncology, or long-term care
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong mathematical and language skills, with excellent written and verbal communication
- Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work flexibly and travel
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities
Certifications and Licenses:
- Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse license, with specific licensing requirements for certain states
Physical Demands:
This role requires standing, walking, manual dexterity, lifting objects, and visual acuity. Exposure to typical healthcare conditions and use of medical equipment is expected.
