About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Pharmacy Technician Specialist, you will play a critical role in our oncology outpatient infusion center, working closely with our healthcare team to provide exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Expertise: Utilize advanced skills and knowledge to perform complex pharmaceutical processes, including hazardous sterile compounding, operating room, automation, remote dispensing, medication history, purchasing, and billing/insurance coordination.
  • Equipment and Technology: Serve as an expert with specialized equipment and technology, problem-solving technical issues as they arise and ensuring accurate and timely completion of documents and records.
  • Quality Improvement: Identify opportunities for quality improvement based on your specialized skill set, ensuring safe, effective, and efficient services and patient care.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with department leaders to develop and coordinate team member education, training, orientation, and competency, and serve as a resource for other pharmacy team members, physicians, nurses, and ancillary departments.
  • Licensure and Certification: Maintain licensure and certification requirements, including Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Student licensure in Illinois, Certification (CPhT) issued by PTCB, and State of Wisconsin registration.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Graduate
  • Experience: Typically requires 5 years of experience in hospital or retail pharmacy technician role, depending on specialty area
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Good mathematics skills, attention to detail, good communication and interpersonal skills, exceptional customer service, problem resolution, and process development skills, and basic computer skills
Working Conditions
  • Physical Requirements: Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job, frequent fine motor motion of hands and wrists to operate keyboard and manipulate syringes, lifts, carries, and/or pushes/pulls various items while utilizing proper technique
  • Environmental Factors: May be exposed to chemical hazards, chemical and hazardous waste, blood and body fluids, and communicable disease, requiring protective clothing and equipment
