Overview:


The Sanitation Steward plays a crucial role in upholding the cleanliness and organization of all dining ware, ensuring that the highest standards of hygiene are consistently met.

This position involves supporting the culinary team by maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and storage areas, which includes the thorough cleaning of all equipment, utensils, and workspaces.

Additionally, the steward is responsible for proper food storage and rotation practices.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain exceptional cleanliness and order in all kitchen areas, including back docks and utility spaces.

2. Conduct heavy-duty cleaning of ovens, grills, sinks, walls, floors, and large kitchen appliances.

3. Sort, stack, and prewash all banquet dishware, cutlery, and glassware, which may involve remote staging areas.

4. Transport soiled dishware from event spaces to washing areas.

5. Ensure pots, pans, and kitchen utensils are washed following established sanitation procedures.

6. Sweep, mop, and wash floors in all food and beverage zones, including kitchens and dining areas.

7. Communicate with management regarding shortages of equipment and supplies.


8. Operate dishwashing machinery to guarantee thorough cleaning and sanitation of all dining ware.

9. Return clean dishware to designated storage areas with care to minimize breakage.

10. Understand and apply safe handling techniques for all cleaning chemicals used.

11. Report any malfunctioning equipment to management promptly.

12. Dispose of waste from food and beverage areas into designated dumpsters.

13. Be familiar with the location and operation of all fire safety equipment.

14. Practice safe work habits to prevent injuries to oneself and others.

15. Follow proper procedures for disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling kitchen equipment as needed.

16. Adhere to all sanitation standards.

17. Assist in setting up and breaking down restaurant buffets as required.
18. Support Banquets and outlets by providing necessary dining ware as per business needs.

19. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with experience in a hospitality or related field.

Physical Requirements:
Flexibility and the ability to work long hours may be required.


This role involves heavy work, which may require exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

The ability to stand for the entire shift and withstand temperature variations is essential.

Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.


Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary to interact with employees and guests in a courteous and service-oriented manner.

The ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests is crucial.

Multitasking and prioritizing departmental functions to meet deadlines is required.

Approach all interactions with guests and employees in a friendly and service-oriented manner.

Attendance at all required meetings and training sessions is expected.


Regular attendance in compliance with company standards is necessary, with schedules varying according to hotel needs.

Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the appropriate uniform and nametag.

Comply with company standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations.

Maximize productivity efforts, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.

Effectively handle problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving issues as necessary.

Cross-training in other hotel-related areas may be required.

Confidentiality of information must be maintained.

Salary Range ($23.60/hr)
