Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Gas Service Technician to join our team at CoServ. As a Trainee Gas Service Technician, you will be responsible for training in connects and disconnects of service, installing and removing meters and/or regulators, and assisting in the restoration of outages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Train in connects and disconnects of service, installing and removing meters and/or regulators.
  • Train in gas turn on and turn off, including stand-up meter leak test and check and adjusts house regulators.
  • Assist in the restoration of outages.
  • Communicate with customers to assess problems with service.
  • Assist in balancing and coordination of pressure problems during peak demand periods.
  • Perform call out duties under the direct supervision of an Operator Qualified Service Technician.
  • Load meters/regulators and other materials onto truck at warehouse.
  • Install and remove meter/regulators for proper placement for installation.
  • Perform some digging when installing and repairing underground gas lines.
  • Communicate with customers about delinquent accounts, service requirements, etc.
  • Comply with established CoServ safety and operating rules, procedures and guidelines including reporting unsafe practices to a supervisor.
  • Comply with established CoServ Information Security Handbook, policies, procedures, and guidelines including reporting suspected information security incidents to Tech Support.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalency.
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid.

Working Conditions
  • Works outdoors 95% of the time in all types of weather conditions and environmental conditions.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Drives company vehicle.
  • Works in no or low light conditions -- using handheld lantern or spotlights.
  • Works in potentially hazardous conditions caused by escaping gas in or near the work site.
  • Works in areas with possible exposure to poison oak, poison ivy, and insect stings.
