Network Architecture Expert

We are seeking a Sr. Project Engineer/Network Architect to support the National Reconnaissance Office's (NRO) COMM Directorate, Network Services Group (NSG). NSG goals include modernizing and simplifying NRO networks, anticipating demand to scale networks to meet partner needs, and improving global network resilience. This opportunity will focus on supporting NSG through rigorous data collection, analysis, and systems engineering methodologies.
This role requires 100% on-site work in Chantilly, VA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze mission and IT requirements to develop telecommunications network/data communications architectures.
- Apply technical knowledge of OSI Model Layer 2/Layer 3 network devices, TCP/IP, routing/switching protocols, network security/firewalls, and network mapping in network modeling, analysis, and planning.
- Analyze terrestrial/space optical transmission network models to identify availability risks due to cybersecurity vulnerabilities and other network architecture weaknesses.
- Recommend technological upgrades and reconfigurations to reduce operating costs, improve performance, and accommodate evolving requirements.
- Guide projects and technical teams through required NRO and COMM systems engineering gates and data collection strategies.
- Generate and present reports of findings and recommendations to NSG, COMM, and senior leaders from other NRO offices.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or a related field.
- 12 or more years of relevant experience providing network engineering solutions, technical analysis, impact assessments, tradeoffs, and market research in enterprise IT service environments.
- Experience developing technical roadmaps and architectures in enterprise IT service environments.
- Experience managing projects throughout the systems engineering lifecycle.
- Experience using tools and platforms for developing enterprise architectures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication.
Estimated Salary: $145,000 - $200,000 per year, based on location and experience.
