Job Title: Grounds Laborer

Ho-Chunk, Inc. is seeking a skilled Grounds Laborer to join our team. As a Grounds Laborer, you will be responsible for maintaining the beauty and functionality of our outdoor spaces.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Landscaping and Maintenance:
    • Maintain lawns, trim edges, and prune trees and shrubs to ensure a visually appealing landscape.
    • Plant flowers, shrubs, trees, and grass as needed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of our outdoor spaces.
    • Weed, mulch, fertilize, and water landscaped areas to promote healthy plant growth.
    • Remove debris, litter, and fallen leaves from grounds to maintain a safe and clean environment.
    • Maintain flower beds, pathways, and other outdoor areas to ensure they are well-maintained and visually appealing.
  • Groundskeeping Duties:
    • Perform routine maintenance on groundskeeping equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working condition.
    • Assist in the installation and repair of irrigation systems to ensure efficient water use.
    • Shovel snow and apply salt during the winter months to maintain safe walking surfaces.
    • Set up and take down seasonal decorations and outdoor furniture to enhance the aesthetic appeal of our outdoor spaces.
    • Ensure all outdoor areas comply with safety regulations to protect employees and visitors.
  • General Duties:
    • Report any damages or needed repairs to the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to ensure prompt attention.
    • Assist with special projects and events as needed to support the team.
    • Follow company policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or a related field is an asset.
  • Ability to operate groundskeeping equipment (e.g., lawn mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers).
  • Basic knowledge of horticulture and plant care.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of work.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
