Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital is seeking a skilled Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Paramedic to join our team. As a key member of our emergency department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and services to our diverse patient population.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the delivery of patient care and services to diverse patient populations and their families.
- Perform EKGs and collect lab specimens under the direction of a licensed nurse and/or provider.
- Provide patient care activities of daily living (ADLs) within unit-specific defined limits and job scope.
- Conduct hourly rounding to ensure patient needs are met and record data established by policy and procedure.
- Report observations and patient problems to the licensed nurse and/or provider.
- High School diploma or equivalent education.
- Completion of EMT-A, EMT-Paramedic program, or licensed Paramedic, and/or currently participating in an EMT to Paramedic program with classification of an EMT-Advanced.
- EMT-A - Emergency Medical Technician-Advanced - State Licensure.
- EMT-P - Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic - State Licensure.
- BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA).
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA).
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (AHA) within 3 months.
- NVCRISIS - Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) within 3 months.
- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
- Displays strong time management skills and adapts to multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision.
