Key Responsibilities:
- Examine prescriptions from authorized prescribers to confirm the accuracy and suitability of medications, including dosage and administration instructions.
- Provide comprehensive information to patients regarding potential drug interactions, side effects, proper dosage, and medication storage.
- Adhere to established protocols for quality assurance, safeguarding controlled substances, and the disposal of hazardous medications.
- Educate interns, students, and pharmacy staff on pharmacy-related matters.
- Supervise pharmacy personnel involved in the labeling, packaging, and preparation of pharmaceuticals.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, as well as state and federal pharmacy laws, while consistently enforcing company policies.
- Collaborate with the pharmacy manager to monitor expenses and implement loss prevention strategies.
- Facilitate effective communication among pharmacy staff, store management, and retail support personnel.
- Compound medications according to standard formulas and processes, ensuring accuracy in weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
- Promote the company's values and maintain positive community relationships while collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Administer vaccinations in accordance with established protocols.
- Foster a positive work environment that prioritizes safety and sanitation for both customers and staff.
- Maintain an active pharmacist license and stay informed about new medications and legislative changes.
- Assist in managing inventory levels and remove expired or damaged medications from stock.
- Engage in medication management by monitoring therapies, conducting drug utilization reviews, and recommending interventions.
- Perform record-keeping and administrative tasks, reporting any prescription errors promptly and adhering to company policies regarding medication incidents.
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Education and Licensure: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution; active state pharmacist license in good standing; certification in vaccination administration.
- Availability: Must be available for scheduled shifts, including weekends and evenings, with flexibility to accommodate business needs.
- Reasoning and Skills: Ability to interpret complex information and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment while maintaining organization and time management.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to build professional relationships; ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and colleagues.
