Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Official to join our team at Okaloosa County, FL. As a key member of our Code Enforcement department, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and conduct inspections of commercial and residential projects to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Review and approve building plans and specifications to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Enforce building codes and regulations through education and enforcement.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective code enforcement.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve code enforcement and compliance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Construction, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in building code enforcement, inspection, or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • State certification as a Building Code Administrator or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in local government building regulation and as a licensed private general, residential, or building contractor.
  • Supervisory or management experience in a related field.
