Purchasing Manager Job Description

Michael Page is partnering with a well-established regional single-family home builder to find a skilled Purchasing Manager. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing purchase orders, change orders, and vendor negotiations for single-family residential projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and execute purchase orders and change orders for single-family residential projects.
  • Negotiate pricing and rebate agreements with major vendors and contractors.
  • Coordinate with the Estimating and Architecture Department to establish unit pricing and maintain a unit-price schedule for assigned vendors.
  • Review plans, new community and model decisions, presentation plans, and website information.
  • Supervise the maintenance of and updates to master trade partner/subcontractor lists and subcontractor and supplier insurance policies.
  • Manage the development of and updates to community options books with pricing, specs, and photos.
Requirements:
  • 5-10+ years of experience as a purchasing agent or coordinator or relevant procurement experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of estimating and purchasing principles as well as residential construction practices and materials.
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills, desire to learn, ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • In-house training on multiple MRP building software.
