Position Summary:
The Clinical Infusion Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering nursing care, which encompasses direct patient interactions, education for patients and families, and facilitating transitions in care. This position is responsible for administering infusions on-site and upholding professional nursing standards across various healthcare settings to effectively address the needs of patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer in-house infusions for a diverse patient population utilizing a range of infusible medications.
- Conduct vital signs assessments, record height and weight, and perform necessary screening procedures, documenting all findings in the electronic medical record.
- Deliver care in accordance with the established patient care plan.
- Monitor patient conditions closely and alert relevant personnel to any significant changes.
- Provide specialized nursing services that require advanced skills.
- Guide patients and their families in addressing nursing and related needs.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Understanding of nursing scope of practice and patient care standards.
- Familiarity with intravenous (IV) and infusion protocols.
- Proficient in medical terminology.
- Awareness of HIPAA privacy regulations.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong planning, organizational, and time management abilities.
- Competence in using computers and various software applications, including Electronic Health Records (EHR), Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Adept at managing multiple priorities and problem-solving.
- Ability to perform well under pressure to achieve set goals.
- Commitment to maintaining high levels of professional integrity.
- Capability to represent the organization positively.
Education & Experience:
Current certification as a Registered Nurse (RN) is required. A minimum of two years of experience as an RN with electronic Health Records (EHR) is essential. At least one year of experience in intravenous (IV) and infusion therapy is also required.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This role is conducted within a healthcare environment. The position necessitates frequent sitting and computer usage, allowing for variations in physical position for comfort. Candidates must be able to:
- Stand for 40% or more of the workday.
- Walk for 20% or more of the workday.
- Sit for 40% or more of the workday.
- Engage in repetitive hand movements for tasks such as simple grasping and fine manipulation.
- Utilize all sensory skills (speech, vision, smell, touch, and hearing) corrected to near normal range.
