Job Summary:
The Special Education Assistant provides critical support to special education teachers in creating a well-organized and smoothly functioning classroom environment for students with disabilities. This role is responsible for assisting teachers in preparing instructional materials, supervising and assisting children in the classroom and other areas of the school, reinforcing classroom lessons, and providing other assistance as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist special education teachers in preparing instructional materials and activities for students with disabilities.
- Supervise and assist children in the classroom and other areas of the school, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Reinforce classroom lessons and provide additional support to students as needed.
- Provide other assistance to teachers and staff as requested, including coordinating special projects and programs.
- Work under direct supervision, following established procedures and protocols.
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university, or two years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours) from an accredited institution.
- One year of experience working with children in an educational setting, preferred.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid, or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
