Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Body Repair Specialist to join our team at IndyGo. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining the bodies and frames of our corporation vehicles.

Estimated Salary: $24.31 - $29.71 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Examine and diagnose damage to metal, plastic, and fiberglass body panels and vehicle components, determining the proper course of action to facilitate vehicle repair, adjustment, and component replacement.
  • Remove, repair, adjust, and replace body panels, doors, seats, and flooring, as well as windows, destination signs, and other vehicle components.
  • Cut body panels using plasma arc cutters and use oxyacetylene cutting/welding and MIG welding equipment to repair and form body panels and other automotive parts.
  • Apply body fillers, sand, and paint as needed, ensuring a high-quality finish.
  • Weld and rivet body parts as required.
  • Locate and repair leaks at seams and beading.
  • Operate heavy machinery and equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, hydraulic lifts, hoists, jacks, and tugs used for pulling disabled buses.
  • Respond to emergencies involving corporation vehicles and aid in their movement when necessary.
  • Complete relevant paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety practices and maintenance guidelines.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in body mechanic work, preferably with a formal trade school or associate degree in automotive, diesel, or engineering.
  • Certification in MIG welding and/or ASE certification in automotive body repair is preferred.
  • A valid Indiana commercial driver's license with passenger and air brake endorsements, or the ability to obtain it within 6 months of hire.
  • The ability to pass physical testing and complete job functions as defined in the Functional Job Description.
Working Conditions

This role requires exposure to heavy machinery/equipment, excessive noise, extreme temperatures, fumes/odors, some hazardous materials, and dirt/dust. You must be able to work night and weekend shifts, and overtime on a regular basis due to assignment shifts being picked bi-annually according to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
