Buffalo Framing & Truss, LLC is a leading provider of turnkey framing, trusses, and wall panels in Central Texas. We are seeking a skilled Purchasing Specialist to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for purchasing commodity lumber and other building materials for truss and wall panel manufacturing, as well as job packs delivered to single family and multi family job sites.

The Purchasing Specialist will also manage inventory levels and usage to ensure cost-advantaged coverage for present and future needs. This role requires strong communication and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with vendors, internal teams, and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Buy lumber and building materials through multiple vendors on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Coordinate and oversee receipt of material with receiving personnel.
  • Analyze inventory turns of material, suggest deletions of obsolete or dead stock.
  • Implement cycle counts and coordinate with yard personnel to confirm accuracy of inventory levels.
  • Monitor, observe, and receive feedback on quality and performance of materials purchased.
  • Provide insight on purchasing strategy and market knowledge as it relates to product pricing, margins, and value engineering.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred).
  • 2-4 years of buying and inventory management experience (required).
  • Prior experience in lumber and building materials (strongly preferred).
  • Extensive knowledge of lumber and building material products, terminology, grades, species, treatments, and units of measure.
  • Ability to analyze large sets of data within reports.
