Job Summary

The Cardiovascular Operating Room Nurse is a key member of the Abrazo West Campus surgical team, responsible for circulating in the operating room and assisting physicians with advanced tasks or equipment during surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares for surgical procedures by completing assessment of the patient and reviewing patient chart, diagnostics, and labs. Reports abnormal results to physicians and other appropriate care givers.
  • Formulates and initiates plan of care based on patient specific needs and medical plan of care. Plans care in collaboration with members of multidisciplinary team.
  • Prepares for surgical procedure by ensuring all appropriate supplies and instruments are available and room set up is appropriate.
  • Documents surgical procedure in the patient record. Documentation is timely and in accordance with policy.
  • Demonstrates the principles of aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the procedure.
  • Ensures that all surgeon preference cards are accurate.
  • Assists with OR turnover between cases.
  • Participates in or leads the training and orientation of surgical staff and students, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current, valid RN license in the state of practice
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • One year of operating room experience in the acute care setting
  • Preferred experience: 1 year in CVOR setting
