Central Sterile Processing Technician

As a Central Sterile Processing Technician at the University of California, Irvine, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. Under the supervision of the Director of Surgical Services and/or Clinical Nurse Manager, you will be responsible for caring for instruments and supplies by cleaning, organizing, and wrapping them in an approved manner conducive to sterilization and disinfection techniques.
Key Responsibilities- Clean and organize instruments and supplies in a manner that ensures their proper sterilization and disinfection.
- Wrap instruments and supplies in approved packaging materials to prevent contamination.
- Ensure that all instruments and supplies are properly labeled and stored.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure that all instruments and supplies are available and ready for use during surgical procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of instrument and supply usage and inventory.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of experience in a sterile processing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of instruments and their care.
- Knowledge of approved sterilization packaging requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
