Position Title: Structural Carpenter

Department: Construction

Supervisor: Vice President of Construction

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Compensation Range: $26.44 per hour ($45,000 - $55,000 annually) along with a comprehensive benefits package

Work Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday; 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Structural Carpenter is responsible for ensuring that daily construction tasks are executed in alignment with organizational standards, adhering to the established house plans, specifications, and quality benchmarks. This role emphasizes maintaining a secure construction site in compliance with safety training protocols. At the conclusion of each workday, the Structural Carpenter will input all necessary project data into the designated software application. This position requires independent decision-making on-site and collaboration with Construction Crew Leaders, the Lead Carpenter, and the Director of Construction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Uphold the mission of Pensacola Habitat for Humanity by contributing to the construction of homes and fostering community development.
  • Facilitate or assist in conducting daily on-site safety meetings for volunteers and home buyers before commencing work activities.
  • Complete accident report forms and promptly notify the HR Manager when necessary.
  • Identify and propose effective building practices and potential cost-saving measures for materials.
  • Maintain attention to detail regarding construction site cleanliness and overall quality assurance.
  • Ensure the worksite is organized, tools are stored properly, and the area is cleaned at the end of each day.
  • Verify that all tools are in safe and functional condition at the end of each workday.
  • Send any damaged tools for repair as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in standard framing techniques.
  • Experienced in the operation of standard construction tools.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting building plans and specifications.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage the worksite effectively.
  • Strong communication and team-building skills are essential.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in team leadership.
  • Minimum of 2 years of framing experience; 4 years preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This role is primarily conducted outdoors and may require the ability to sit, stand, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds. Candidates must be prepared to work in various weather conditions.

A valid state driver's license, a safe driving record, reliable transportation, and insurability through the vehicle insurance provider are required.
