Lead Data Scientist

The opportunity:

We seek an experienced data scientist with a machine learning background to drive strategic decision making and contribute to our next-generation EdTech products.

This mission-critical role will work closely with our Innovation Lab on developing an LLM-based chatbot, leveraging content chunking, embedding, semantic search, and conversational models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct cutting-edge data science research and build ML models for various applications
  • Collaborate on software implementation, monitoring, and upkeep of user-facing and internal data products
  • Perform data analyses to support informed decision making
  • Stay up-to-date with ML/AI literature and practice, identifying opportunities for improvement in our models
  • Participate in ETL development (dbt), dashboard development (Tableau), and A/B testing
  • Mentor other data scientists and analysts
  • Identify opportunities to apply data science and analytics across the organization

Requirements:

  • 6-8+ years of data science/ML research experience working with large, real-world data
  • Strong understanding of statistical and machine learning algorithms
  • Strong programming skills as applied to working with large datasets (ideally including Python, SQL, and a graph database)
  • Experience deploying machine learning models to production
  • Practicality, a bias for action, and comfort with ambiguity
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to draw robust conclusions from data
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with LLMs, search, personalization, and/or adaptive learning

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $200,000-$250,000 annually, as well as performance-based bonuses and benefits. Our commitment to fostering a culture of inclusion, trust, and engagement includes education reimbursement and early-release Summer Fridays.
