Job Summary:

The Part-time Bookstore Clerk is responsible for assisting the Bookstore Manager and performing various duties related to cash sales, credit card purchases, reordering, invoicing, stocking, and pricing of merchandise in the bookstore. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be well-organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a cashier and handle cash transactions

• Coordinate and oversee the selection of merchandise, including vendor and product selection

• Coordinate the return of damaged merchandise to vendors

• Purchase goods for resale and initiate purchase orders

• Determine the quality and quantity of products purchased and monitor receiving, invoicing, and transferring of products

• Verify student financial aid and charge books and supplies to financial aid

• Implement and maintain inventory, including dusting and vacuuming the bookstore

• Assist the Bookstore Manager and perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• High school credential and either one year of college or retail or related customer service experience

• Good verbal communication skills and general skills in keyboarding and computer usage

• Ability to work well with little supervision and deal professionally and courteously with a diverse student and employee population

• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time and lift up to 30 pounds on a routine basis

Benefits:

The Part-time Bookstore Clerk will receive a competitive hourly wage of $12 per hour up to 19 hours per week. Additionally, the position offers Worker's Compensation and Limited Part-Time Retirement Plan.
