Position Overview

Blt Management LLC is currently seeking a Harbor Transportation Captain for our seasonal operations. We are looking for a personable and experienced individual with an OUPV License (6-pack), Limited OUPV, or Master 25T certification to oversee the safe and efficient transport of our guests and tenants across the West Branch channel.

Key Responsibilities

The Harbor Transportation Captain will be responsible for:

  • Operating an uninspected vessel under 100 GRT, capable of carrying six or fewer passengers.
  • Conducting daily inspections of the vessel to ensure cleanliness, engine performance, and functionality of safety equipment.
  • Managing fuel levels, oil changes, and battery maintenance as required.
  • Performing safety checks on all equipment, including life vests, navigational lights, and first-aid supplies.
  • Maintaining detailed reports on trips, maintenance, fuel usage, and passenger activities.
  • Ensuring the vessel is in excellent condition and properly secured at the end of each shift.
  • Providing exceptional customer service by greeting guests and answering inquiries with local knowledge.
Qualifications

To be considered for the position, candidates must possess:

  • A valid OUPV License (6-pack), Limited OUPV, or higher Master 25T certification.
  • Enrollment in a DOT-approved Drug and Alcohol testing program, or willingness to join.
  • Ability to swim and lift up to 40lbs.
  • Knowledge of VHF radio communication and etiquette.
  • Capability to remain composed in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Flexibility to work various hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • First Aid, CPR, and Vessel Fire Safety training are advantageous but not mandatory.
