Bus Driver

We are seeking a skilled Bus Driver to join our team at Agua Fria High School District. As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, as well as on field trips and sporting events.

• Operate a school bus safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
• Transport students on regular assigned runs and special assignments, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
• Perform pre and post-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in good working condition.
• Monitor and maintain discipline on the bus, submitting written referrals when necessary.
• Administer first aid when required and conduct emergency evacuation drills.
• Maintain the interior and exterior of the bus, cleaning and sanitizing it regularly.
• Provide special assistance to special education students, operating a wheelchair lift and transferring students safely.
• Respond to requests for backup assistance and provide feedback on route design and updates.
• Submit electronic work orders for defects and non-operational findings.
• Ensure video equipment is functioning properly and report any issues.
• Be capable and willing to drive any vehicle assigned.
• Observe all state and federal safety regulations and district policy.
• Report all citations and accidents, completing required forms.
• React professionally in emergency situations.
• Submit to random, periodic, and post-accident drug/alcohol testing.
• Attend and participate in department meetings and training.
• May be required to travel for work functions.
• Maintain confidentiality of student, staff, parent, and school information.
• Provide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents, and community.
• Perform responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner.
• Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Must be 21 years of age, possess or acquire a valid AZ Commercial Driver License (CDL) class B with P and S endorsements, and an AZ Bus Driver Certificate.
• Must obtain and maintain CPR and first aid certification.
• Must pass a physical examination and annual drug screening as prescribed by AAC R.
• Exemplary driving record with no more than 8 points in the past 39 months or repeated violations in the past 10 years.
• Knowledge of Agua Fria and metro geographical area, roads, bus stops, and school bus routes.
• Must have and maintain a valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• One year experience driving school buses or bus-driving experience preferred.
• Ability to assist students with disabilities in loading, transferring, securing, and unloading.

• Ability to work cooperatively with parents, students, administrators, faculty, staff, and the general public.
• Ability to read and interpret written information related to the job.
• General knowledge in the use of office machines and computers.

• Must be able to perform duties in extreme weather conditions for extended periods.
• Noise level is moderate to loud.
