We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Substitute School Nurse to join our team at Great Hearts Academies. Key Responsibilities- Provide temporary and emergency care for sick and injured students or staff according to school policy and procedures.
- Serve as a health advocate for students and notify parents of accidents or illnesses.
- Administer medications according to school policy and procedures.
- Perform screening procedures as required by Arizona Department of Health and school policy.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
- Attend Admission Review & Dismissal (ARD) meetings of students with identified health needs.
- Participate in assessment and reporting of suspected child abuse.
- Communicate regularly with school administrators regarding health services issues.
- Enforce procedures to ensure proper program administration according to school policy.
- Supervise other school personnel as designated by the campus headmaster to have responsibility for assisting students with health needs.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, Arizona Department of Health rule, State Board of Education rule, and board policy in health services area.
- Report potential health and safety hazards to school administrators.
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Arizona Board of Nursing.
- CPR Certification.
- Substitute nurse will obtain hearing and vision certification.
- Substitute nurses will have limited SNAP access.
- One (1) year nursing experience.
