Job Title: Registered Nurse - Obstetrics

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse - Obstetrics to join our team at Bon Secours Mercy Health. As an OB RN, you will provide high-quality patient care to women and newborns, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, analyzing data to create a plan of care and educate patients and families.
  • Provide episodic and inpatient obstetrical care, administering medications safely and coordinating care within hospital departments.
  • Act as a patient safety advocate, participating in quality improvement initiatives and applying knowledge of contemporary obstetrical nursing practice.
  • Apply the nursing process to care for women during pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and other women's health issues, as well as newborns from birth until discharge.
  • Model core cultural and safety behaviors, ensuring a safe and high-quality experience of care.

Requirements:

  • Current RN license in the state of employment or compact licensure.
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification (preferred upon hire).
  • NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification (preferred upon hire).
  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (preferred).
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification (preferred if interpreting fetal monitoring).
  • Inpatient OB Certification (preferred).
  • Maternal Newborn Nursing Certification (preferred).
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Certification (required for critical care transport NICU teams within 2 years of hire).
  • Low Risk Neonatal Nursing Certification (preferred).
  • Care of the Extremely Low Birth Weight Neonate Certification (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of RN experience.
  • Recent OB, ED, or critical care experience.
  • Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience.

Working Conditions:

Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. May be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse. May be required to use physical restraints. May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights. May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids.

Patient Population:

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the departmental policies and procedures.
