Job Summary:

As a Respiratory Care Specialist at McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center, you will be responsible for assessing patients' respiratory status and applying appropriate therapy. This includes performing all respiratory therapy procedures for patients according to medical prescription and departmental policies, procedures, and protocols.

Your expertise will also contribute to research efforts aimed at quality assurance and performance improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' respiratory status and apply appropriate therapy
• Perform all respiratory therapy procedures according to medical prescription and departmental policies
• Instruct/teach patients about prescribed therapy
• Operate, clean, and maintain electrical, pneumatic, and manual equipment used for diagnosis and treatment
• Share patient care information with nursing, physicians, and others involved in patient care
• Assist with department research associated with quality assurance and performance improvement

Educational/Licensing Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must hold a current Oregon Respiratory Care Practitioner license and an Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Care. Additionally, you should be registered as a Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC). BLS certification is required, and ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications are needed within 3 and 6 months of hire, respectively.

Qualifications and Experience:

We seek candidates with at least 18 months of clinical practice in a hospital setting, either as an RCP or participating in clinical training as part of a respiratory care program. Your knowledge of theory and application of diagnostic and therapeutic modes of respiratory care is essential for success in this role.
