Position Overview
The Nurse Practitioner plays a crucial role in promoting and sustaining patient health throughout the healthcare continuum. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting thorough health assessments and identifying both normal and abnormal health characteristics.
- Developing and implementing treatment plans while continuously evaluating care outcomes in accordance with established standards.
- Utilizing clinical judgment to work independently or in collaboration with the healthcare team to manage patient care across various settings.
- Adhering to the Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

- Provide care in oncology services, including laboratory testing, examinations, diagnoses, and treatment of chronic and acute symptoms.
- Conduct hospital rounds as necessary.
- Collaborate with covering physicians for patient needs in the hospital.
- Participate in after-hours and weekend coverage as required.
- Refer patients to specialists when necessary.
- Prescribe medications and perform office procedures within the scope of practice.
- Manage patient inquiries and provide consultations via telephone.
- Perform comprehensive physical exams and document medical histories.
- Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Administer medications and injections in compliance with regulations.
- Educate patients and families about medications, treatments, and health maintenance.
- Work collaboratively with physicians to manage both acute and chronic medical needs.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Engage in professional development to stay updated with healthcare practices.
- Uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
- Master's degree in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Completion of an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.
- Acute Care certification is mandatory.
- A minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience plus two years as a Nurse Practitioner.
- At least one year of experience in an oncology setting.
- Current licensure as an ANP or FNP.
- Active Registered Nurse license is required.
- Understanding of nursing theories, practices, and regulations.
- Proficiency in using medical equipment for patient care.
- Familiarity with oncology-related medical terminology.
- Awareness of safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment.
- Ability to perform procedures such as Bone Marrow Biopsies.
The role involves a combination of clinical settings with potential exposure to communicable diseases and other hazards typical in an oncology clinic.
Physical and Mental Demands:
The position requires physical stamina and the ability to manage stress from various responsibilities.
