Position Overview:

The Facilities Maintenance Engineer will apply advanced technical skills to conduct intricate preventive maintenance and corrective repairs of building systems, equipment, and surrounding areas.

Working with limited oversight, this role involves monitoring the performance and operations of building systems. The engineer will utilize various trade skills, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Assist in the procurement, inventory management, and stocking of parts and supplies as directed.
  • Maintain effective communication with management and engineering teams to update work orders.
  • Respond promptly to tenant service requests and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Interact professionally with contracted service providers and tenant facility personnel.
  • Perform or oversee routine maintenance and repair tasks effectively.
  • Operate building systems, including HVAC, BAS, access controls, and fire safety systems.
  • Document maintenance and repair activities as required.
  • Exhibit strong experience in operating and troubleshooting HVAC systems, particularly water source heat pumps.
  • Build and maintain a courteous, service-oriented rapport with all stakeholders.
  • Utilize current technology tools effectively.
  • Be available for after-hours emergency response.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal forms.
Education and Qualifications:
  • Completion of SMA Engineering Course (preferred).
  • Attendance at BOMA Engineering School (preferred).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of three years of relevant experience or trade school training.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting, climbing, and working at heights.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime and respond to after-hours emergencies.
  • Pass a background check and drug screening; must be bondable.
  • Familiarity with BAS systems is advantageous.
  • Apprentice or maintenance electrical license is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, especially with WSHP systems.
  • CFC and refrigerant licenses are preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in commercial building maintenance or a related field.
Skills:
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Adaptability to changing environments.
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in using technology for work order systems and training.
Compensation:

Hourly wages are commensurate with experience.
