Overview

Under general oversight, the Electrical Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in addressing the electrical requirements of Vehicle Service Group by executing the installation, repair, replacement, and upkeep of electrical apparatus, fixtures, and systems. This position involves conducting preventive maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives. The technician is responsible for performing electrical repairs and preventive maintenance on a diverse range of facility and production equipment, fixtures, and systems. Proficiency in basic computer operations (Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel) is expected, along with the capability to program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). A proactive approach to learning new programming software as necessary is encouraged. The role also includes basic and advanced troubleshooting of machine tools (CNC) and collaboration with engineering when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a zero-injury record.
  • Assemble and install electrical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems, including production machinery and fixtures.
  • Execute tasks in accordance with the National Electric Code.
  • Maintain a detailed electrical log of new construction activities.
  • Utilize a variety of hand and power tools, as well as machinery, to complete tasks.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and/or electro-mechanical systems, isolating malfunctions, disassembling equipment, and replacing electrical and electronic components such as wiring, controllers, switches, motors, PLCs, circuit boards, and relays.
  • Assess work requests for electrical repairs and maintenance, determining the nature of issues and proposing suitable solutions.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and perform necessary actions, including electrical panel checks, motor insulation assessments, wire connections, safety device evaluations, and cleaning.
  • Ensure regular and punctual attendance as scheduled.
  • May engage in preventive maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment.
  • May perform basic welding and simple machining tasks as part of repair and maintenance duties.
  • May assist with carpentry and painting tasks as needed.
  • May have responsibilities related to hazardous materials management.
  • Participate in team meetings as required (safety, problem-solving, etc.).
  • Implement the Quality Policy and Procedures in all aspects of daily responsibilities.
  • May be required to work additional hours as necessary.
  • Program PLCs and integrate them into projects.
  • Utilize personal computer applications for job functions and team communication.
  • Understand control systems and manufacturing machinery.
  • Identify root causes and suggest improvements as necessary.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting on CNC machine tools and may be tasked with more advanced troubleshooting as needed.
  • Collaborate positively with engineering on automation projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: Two or more years of experience as a Journeyman in a Manufacturing Plant Electrical role.
  • Required: Current State of Oregon Limited Journeyman Manufacturing Plant License or State of Oregon General Journeyman License.
  • Preferred: Completion of a two-year technical program in control systems.
