Psychiatric Nurse

Join Nashville General Hospital, a Joint Commission-accredited community-based hospital, as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse. As a member of our team, you will deliver care for patients across their life span, assessing and documenting the effects of care. You will work alongside the Psychiatrist and Psych Nurse Practitioner to evaluate, triage, and treat a variety of psychiatric issues. Your responsibilities will include providing inpatient consults, ER consults, and psychiatric clinic responsibilities. You will safely perform and correctly document nursing interventions consistent with hospital and clinic policies. You will also communicate pertinent information to patients/families regarding their care and/or procedures. Additionally, you will evaluate and document the patient's response to interventions and procedures. You will administer medications and monitor response. You will assist with medication refills and patient requests. You will use clinic equipment appropriately. You will report concerns regarding patient status or test results to the physician. You will participate in providing information related to health prevention, health maintenance, and health restoration. You will consider patient cultural/religious practices, learning needs, emotional barriers, physical and cognitive limitations, language and level of understanding, documents, education provided, and patient response. You will refer patients to available educational programs as available. The required skills and qualifications for this position include a current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee, an Associates degree in Nursing, a Bachelors degree preferred, at least 1 year in mental health or psychiatric setting preferred, and current BLS certification.
