The Baldwin Park Unified School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialized Instructional Aide to join our team. As a key member of our instructional support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the academic success of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Assist teachers in providing instructional support to students, including reviewing and reinforcing previously introduced skills, reading to students, and explaining work assignments.
- Coordinate and assist students in learning groups and centers, and help them select books and resource materials.
- Follow teacher's lesson plans and assist in the preparation of plans or develop own plans based on teacher's direction and explanation of students' academic needs.
- Evaluate instruction and students' progress, and identify areas for improvement.
- Organize and classify resource materials, and assist in the preparation of learning materials.
- Operate audio-visual equipment, collect equipment, and maintain instructional materials.
- Perform routine clerical and record-keeping activities, such as taking roll, collecting monies, and filing and recording test scores and grades.
- Assist in administering, proctoring, and scoring tests, and charting student progress.
- Check out, order, process, and maintain books and reference materials in a library or resource room.
- Prepare materials for parent meetings, and operate office equipment such as typewriters and copiers.
- Maintain records and files, and straighten or organize classrooms or other learning facilities.
- Accompany students on field trips, and attend in-service training sessions, back-to-school nights, and other school activities.
- Respect the confidential nature of pupil records and school reports, and assist in maintaining student contacts and observing and reporting unusual or atypical behavior.
- Administer first aid in the absence of the teacher or school nurse, and assist in maintaining discipline and monitoring classrooms, playgrounds, or other areas.
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
- Successful completion of the District instructional aide examination.
- Possession of a valid and appropriate California Driver's License.
- Copy of Transcript, CPR/First Aid Certification, Letter(s) of Recommendation, Proof of HS Graduation, and Resume.
The Specialized Instructional Aide will work in a fast-paced educational environment, interacting with students, teachers, and other staff members. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
