Position Title:

Pediatric Patient Care Specialist

RWJBarnabas Health is in search of a committed Pediatric Patient Care Specialist for our Pediatric Unit.

Position Overview:

A typical day for a Pediatric Care Specialist involves various responsibilities aimed at ensuring the well-being of our young patients.

Qualifications:

Mandatory:

  • Completion of High School or equivalent educational attainment.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (CPR) from an accredited organization.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience as a nursing assistant or relevant clinical exposure from a recognized nursing program is preferred.
  • Certification as a nursing assistant is advantageous.

Work Schedule:

  • Night Shift, 40 hours weekly, from 11 PM to 7:30 AM, including alternating weekends and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Pediatric Care Specialist serves as a direct caregiver, assisting patients with daily living activities and delivering nursing care, including monitoring vital signs, performing EKGs, conducting phlebotomy, and providing bedside assistance such as bathing and personal hygiene.
  • Delivering patient care that aligns with physical, educational, safety, and related criteria, tailored to the age group of the patients in the assigned area.
  • Ensuring effective and safe patient outcomes through professional practice, sound judgment, and critical interventions.
  • Maintaining ongoing communication with patients and nursing staff regarding the status of patient care.
  • Engaging in the collaborative development of the patient's care plan from admission through discharge to facilitate safe transitions.
