Quality Control Inspector Role

Associated Grocers of New England seeks a Quality Control Inspector to ensure compliance with food safe handling standards during receiving, storage, returns, and shipment of all perishable products. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for quality produce and a strong understanding of USDA/FDA standards.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a schedule of Monday through Thursday, 4:30am-1:00pm, and Friday, 3:30-12:00pm.

Key Responsibilities:
• Inspect inbound produce for compliance with AGNE's quality guidelines.
• Inspect all other inbound perishable products for compliance with temperature and date guidelines.
• Review in-house products for quality, temperature, and rotation.
• Communicate regularly with procurement about the quality of products.
• Maintain records in accordance with established policies and procedures and audit guidelines.
• Review all perishable returns for appropriate disposition.
• Follow food safe handling policy and procedures.

Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Comfortable working in a multi-temperature environment, as low as -20.
• Moderate produce product knowledge.
• USDA produce quality training preferred. Will train the right candidate.
• Three to five years of wholesale or retail produce experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
• Basic computer skills.
