Role Summary:
We are in search of a detail-oriented and experienced Buyer/Planner to enhance our procurement team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the procurement and negotiation processes for materials, components, equipment, and services that align with our company’s quality benchmarks. Your responsibilities will include evaluating supplier proposals, negotiating pricing, nurturing vendor relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of orders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the procurement of parts, equipment, and materials by preparing requests for quotations and issuing purchase orders to approved suppliers, ensuring accuracy in pricing, schedules, and terms.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and process teams to effectively plan and manage production capacity, ensuring optimal on-time delivery.
- Maintain and ensure the accuracy of open purchase orders, quotes, and work orders, while monitoring lead times for assigned commodities.
- Assess production performance against plans and supplier reliability, promptly advising relevant personnel of any production issues or potential supplier failures.
- Address shipment quality discrepancies by mediating between suppliers and manufacturing teams, facilitating resolutions through organized discussions.
- Maintain comprehensive schedules, records, and reports to track materials throughout the production cycle and ensure resource availability.
- Negotiate and resolve claims related to damages, rejections, losses, and other supplier-related issues.
- Assist in executing system transactions to support the receipt, storage, and transfer of materials.
- Oversee inventory levels, generating tracking reports and performing necessary data entry.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, providing insights for cost reduction and efficiency enhancements.
- Participate in supplier evaluations and site visits, assessing their production capabilities and performance metrics.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience or exposure to supply chain principles and manufacturing processes through internships or training.
- Strong analytical and technical skills to comprehend business practices and identify automation opportunities.
- Intermediate computer proficiency with an understanding of electronic processing.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to innovation and a commitment to lean enterprise methodologies.
Educational Background:
- A four-year degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field, or a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. as a citizen or permanent resident.
