We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Construction Engineer to join our team at Turner Construction. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the construction process to ensure timely completion, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Act as liaison with architects, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, inspectors, and other Turner job staff and owner's representatives to resolve issues related to plans and specifications.
- Oversee and make decisions related to contract drawings and subcontract information, ensuring all drawings and specifications properly relate to the estimate.
- Manage the project budget and ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Negotiate change orders and manage information on changes in the work, preparing independent analyses and obtaining approval from the architect and owner.
- Oversee the close-out process, preparing final records for the project, including requests for information, close-out records, warranties, as-built drawings, operations and maintenance manuals, and evaluating information to ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Supervise assistant engineers, engineering assistants, plan clerks, and interns, providing input on performance appraisals and preparing scope of work documents for trades.
- Develop reports, including general conditions items, labor, safety, change order logs, and quality control.
- Schedule and manage subcontractor trade coordination meetings, preconstruction meetings, and submittal review meetings.
To be successful in this role, you will need a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, plus a minimum of four years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. You will also need proven written and verbal communication abilities, proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment for this role will be fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on delivering high-quality results in a timely manner. You will be working in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve project goals. The physical demands of this role include sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking or hearing, and tasting or smelling. You will also be required to stand and walk frequently, and occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. You must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and have specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
