SPECIAL DEMANDS :

Must possess a genuine interest in serving geriatric residents, demonstrating a willingness to engage in routine and repetitive tasks consistently, even amidst frequent interruptions.

Physical stamina is required to stand and walk for the majority of the shift; must be capable of bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, and carrying food and kitchen equipment. Ability to taste and smell food for quality assessment is necessary, along with manual dexterity for food preparation. Cleanliness is paramount, including wearing hairnets and closed-toe shoes, and maintaining clean hands and nails at all times.


JOB KNOWLEDGE :


Basic knowledge of food preparation, sanitation of various surfaces, and familiarity with kitchen tasks is required.

Ability to prepare a diverse range of foods in large quantities, understanding seasoning and cooking times is essential.

Familiarity with cooking different types of meats and knowledge of various dishes is expected. Must be able to make simple estimations regarding food quantities needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Monitor food temperatures.

Perform various kitchen duties, including cleaning work surfaces and refrigerators, sweeping and mopping floors, and managing the distribution of supplies and utensils, while ensuring cooking foods are monitored to prevent burning.

3. Transport dirty cooking utensils for washing and return clean utensils to their designated locations in the kitchen.

4. Dispose of waste appropriately.

5. Deliver food trays to designated areas.

6. Assist in meal preparation by setting up trays and serving food and desserts during mealtimes.

7. May assist the Cook with tasks such as preparing fruits, vegetables, toast, and beverages.

8. Show a commitment to providing nutritional care for residents.

9. Collaborate effectively with team members.

Participate in meal setup, ensuring high-quality food preparation in specified quantities, catering to dietary needs, and serving visually appealing meals.

11. Utilize leftover food efficiently.

12. Carry out additional duties as assigned.

OTHER WORK VARIABLES:

Working Hours: Assigned by Supervisor

Shift patterns will be coordinated with the Dietary Manager and/or Administrator.
