Job Summary

R.J. Corman Railroad Group, LLC is seeking a highly skilled and safety-minded Locomotive Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our trains.

Key Responsibilities
  • Train Operations: Assist in all phases of the safe daily operation of trains, including assisting in the movement and placement of cars.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate equipment according to company policies, procedures, and practices, including operating track switches and working on trains in yard operations.
  • Multi-Tasking: Perform several tasks safely that require pulling, controlling, and maneuvering onto and off of equipment.
  • Customer Service: Work with customers to ensure accurate movement and placement of cars.
  • Conductor Duties: Perform increasing responsibilities, including the ability to handle Conductor duties.
Requirements
  • Safety Mindset: Must be safety-minded and have basic reading and math skills.
  • Teamwork: Must have the ability to develop teamwork and work with all levels of personnel in achieving train-handling objectives.
  • Communication: Must be able to give and receive instructions over radio.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical Demands: Able to perform physical strenuous work, including constant standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and balancing in a safe manner.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 80lbs.
  • Pushing and Pulling: Able to push and pull with up to 150lbs of force.
  • Environmental Factors: Performs duties in primarily outside environments, in and around moving locomotives, railcars, vehicles, and equipment, with frequent exposure to weather elements.
