Echocardiographer Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Echocardiographer to join our team at the University of Virginia. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for performing echocardiography studies, TEES, and Stress ECHOs, while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

• Perform echocardiography studies, TEES, and Stress ECHOs, recognizing, calculating, interpreting, and analyzing hemodynamic data.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort while in the radiology department.
• Explain procedures and post-procedure orders to patients to gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
• Prioritize workflow based on patient condition and ensure timely arrival and departure.
• Provide a conducive atmosphere for patient cooperation and confidence.
• Utilize patient satisfaction and practice performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and participate in planning and improvement processes.

• 2-year Associate's Degree preferred, with a graduate degree from an accredited Echocardiography school or equivalent experience.
• 2 years of Echocardiography experience preferred, with the ability to register with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 12 months of hire.
• Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.

The job requires constant sitting, standing, walking, and bending/stooping, with frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills are required, along with attention to detail and the ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs occasionally, with the use of Safe Handling Equipment for any weight over 35 lbs.
