About the Role

Amergis is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for providing student evaluations, developing and implementing therapy services, and documenting services in accordance with the plan of care developed for each student.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide skilled occupational therapy services and interventions in accordance with physician orders
  • Regularly reevaluate students for rehabilitation needs and work collaboratively with the physician and other healthcare team members to modify the plan of care as necessary
  • Collaborate with all disciplines to plan and evaluate team goals for each student
  • Assess student needs, plan, evaluate, and modify care to meet goals of occupational therapy interventions
  • Instruct students, families, and caregivers on the student's total occupational therapy program
  • Advise, consult, and instruct members of the multi-disciplinary team in specific occupational therapy modalities
  • Observe and report student progress and/or changes in student status to the physician and appropriate multi-disciplinary team members
  • Direct OT treatment and develop occupational therapy plans of care
  • Refer individuals to other disciplines as deemed appropriate and as approved by the physician
  • Report reactions to treatment and adverse signs and symptoms to the physician, building/district nurse, and parents/caregivers
  • Teach new skills or retrain students in once-familiar daily activities that have become difficult or unfamiliar due to illness or injury
  • Establish equipment needs to facilitate independent functioning
  • Instruct students and families/caregivers in the use of various types of adaptive equipment to improve function; ensure equipment is in good working order
  • Train students and families/caregivers in the use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation according to the plan of care
  • Participate in IEP conferences or other meetings as required to ensure coordination of health services (if applicable)
  • Prepare and submit clinical progress summaries based on the progress of goals
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants according to company policies/procedures and State regulations
  • Comply with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding professional standards and practice standards
  • May fabricate splints and instruct individuals and/or families/caregivers in the use, application, and benefits
  • Perform other duties as assigned/necessary
Requirements
  • Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of practice
  • One (1) year of prior professional Occupational Therapy experience preferred
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
