The Physician Substitute is responsible for conducting medical evaluations, determining donor suitability, and assessing donor adverse events.

Freedom Plasma is seeking a qualified LPN to work in our Clarksville, TN location.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  1. Greet and register new plasma donors into the donor management computer system
  2. Conduct screening procedures, including taking blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, and arm checks
  3. Perform finger sticks to test donors for hematocrit testing and total protein testing using screening equipment
  4. Determine donor eligibility by performing donor eligibility assessments, including medical history interviews, physical examinations, and educating donors on donor testing, HIV/AIDS virus, donation risks, informed consent, confidential self-exclusion, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) testing as necessary
  5. Provide counseling to donors regarding unacceptable test results
  6. Initiate and assist in donor investigations regarding post-donation information
  7. Evaluate and attend to donor adverse events during the donation process
  8. Follow all standard operating procedures for all medical emergencies, including communication with the Center Medical Director and donor transport to emergency medical care facilities
Requirements:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent required
  2. Minimum one (1) year work experience preferred
  3. Actively licensed or certified in the state where performing duties: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Practical Nurse (PN)
  4. Active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required
