Job Description:

The Surgical Technician Core Scrub plays a vital role in the Operating Room at Ballad Health. This position requires flexibility and a willingness to work as an integral part of the surgical team. The ideal candidate will be able to cross-train to other specialties within the Operating Room and demonstrate an awareness of cost and equipment management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Function as the lead person from a skill set standpoint for their assigned specialty.
  • Update preference cards as necessary to ensure available supplies, equipment, and communication of Surgeon and staff related to procedures.
  • Ensure all necessary supplies are available for scheduled procedures the day of the procedure by checking cases to ensure accuracy of supplies needed.
  • Function as the primary trainer for their specialty.
  • Support management in supply negotiation efforts as necessary.
  • Work within the department and with Surgeons to reduce supply expenses related to their specialty service.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program or LPN program.
  • Clinical experience as a Surgical Technician and ability to function in all surgical specialties as a surgical technologist.
  • Meet qualifications of Surgical Tech I and II.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Valid and active surgical tech certification or LPN licensure in the appropriate state.
  • AHA BLS required.
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP may be required dependent upon area assigned.
Work Requirements:
  • Day shift.
  • No on-call requirements.
  • Rotating weekends.
  • No travel required.
