Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections to verify adherence to minimum building standards.
  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained and reviewed.
  • Analyze repair scopes and schedules for compliance.
  • Prepare and present cases, providing expert testimony during public hearings for the Building and Standards Commission.
  • Assist in the management of Boarding Home and Vacant Building Registration Programs.
  • Coordinate the Temporary Sign Retrieval Program.
  • Engage in educational outreach initiatives for the Code Enforcement department.

Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED is required, along with two years of experience in code enforcement or building inspection, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A current Code Enforcement Officer License issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, as well as International Code Council Certification (either International Property Maintenance Code or International Residential Building Inspector), is mandatory. A valid Texas driver’s license or the ability to obtain one is also required. A resume must accompany the application.

Compensation: Pay Grade GG16 with a full pay range of $23.52 to $33.17 per hour.
